| Currently, we are having it where the wolves can go into their dens. It can be for sleeping or for safety. For example, if a bear comes around the den site and their are no adults to protect the pups, the pups can go into the den. There they will be able to hide from the bear, but they will only be able to move backward and forward, as dens are not big in real life. | |

| Actually wolf mothers can enter the den if I'm correct... How should they be able to give birth to their pups in there if they couldn't?
And for said gameplay reasons it'll probably stay like it is now..

| If anyone can post their ideas from webearthonline here, it would make Raven Woods' job alot easier. We dont really have the time to look through too many different forums. | |

| well... the breeding system is: (sorry, I have only been able to play a bird) Build a nest collecting different materials, go get a mate, mating ritual and take your mate to the nest. The female get pregnant, after a while it lays eggs, after waiting the offspring were born, and then they must be fed, protected from predators, and especially being that even parents are in constant danger of being attacked. Maybe... the player who start a pack can decide where to place the den? anyone know the game "SimAnt"? there you can choose exactly where to build the nest entrance.
I know, my ideas are impossible at times, but oh well... at least there will be one that will have a chance of being used.

| We do not think we will need in game mods at this time, but if we do, we will make ways to kick or prevent players from doing certain things. In game mods will probably come from the Raven Woods pack (the pack that includes the game makers) | |

| I assume that this game will be free and you will never charge to obtain it or to play it...
I think there should be an in-game chat with fixed sentences. All of them should be things that a real wolf is able to communicate.
growls: "Go away! this is my pack territory" "Stay away from my wolf, you FANFAN!" (human version: stay away from my man/woman, you *--------*) (Players are human... some of them may want to deceive their mate and have cubs with another wolf) "Do not dare to get closer to my carcass/ get your own food! / wait your turn!" (perhaps only the alpha to force the pack to respect the ranks?) "Fight me if you dare!"
howling: "Hunting time!" "I'm lost! / where's my pack?" "We lost a pack member... and I miss it so much! / we miss you, come back here!" "Time to meet here and sleep/ Bed time!" (I have noticed that in wolf, wolves howl before they sleep) "I'm here!" (no special meaning, maybe to find someone... a mate maybe?) "This is my pack territory and I will tell everyone!"
barking: "Danger! danger! run!" "Hey, do not do that!" (a parent training their cub) "Do not you dare to do that"
whining: "I feel so lonely... please accept me in your pack. Being a dispersal is not fun anymore. / Lone wolf is... so lonely... please let me follow you. I'll be a good wolf" "Feed me please... I'm starving" (cubs dialogue) "Do not hurt me, I'll go away." (dispersal wolf enters a territory by mistake, and the pack threatens him) "Do not hurt me, you can be alpha if you want" (alpha wolf gives away his/her rank.) "Do not hurt me, I do not want to be alpha anymore." (challenging wolf decides he would rather not fight) "Let's play! / Chase my tail! / I'll be the alpha someday, let's play challenge! / Let's play! I'll be the prey and you're the predator... no, wait. I am the predator and you are my food. RARGH!!!" (only cubs)

| Those are actually really good ideas, although we have actions similiar to those for the interaction screen. Perhaps we will make them for the game world as well | |

| I forgot to write it: By choosing one of these sentences, the wolf would show the action (growling, howling, barking or whining), and the dialogue would appear over the wolf, or in a chat window, next to the wolf name. I think words will be necessary, not all players will be experts on animal communication. If words were not included, it would require different kinds of each type of sound so we can understand the wolves. | |

| Cubs should have different dialogues than adults. That would add charm to the cub stage. Cub dialogues should sound funny and cute... to make players laugh. Maybe I can propose a few before Wolf Online is finished. | |

It would be very hard to understand but you could memorize the movement of their meaning I guess.

| What about the different meanings of each vocalization? motion would always be the same when the wolf howls, for example. Raise the head, pointing the muzzle upwards, all the same. The only thing that changes, not including words, is the sound. If we do this the way I suggested it, we will only need one sound for each type of vocalization. I think it is hard enough to add different "voices" to each individual wolf. We do not need four different growls and eight howls if there are words for that. | |

| maybe my bitch? I could try to record its sounds... but I would be lucky if I get a bark. my pet does not whines, and decidedly does not howl. Maybe a growl too, but that would be hard. Nobody minds if the sounds are not original? there's the internet many of these sounds, ready to download. | |

| Yeah, I know. But those sounds mostly can't match those we already have... they got noises in the background or are unclean with beeps or cracks. Do you think you could try to avoid any background-noises? | |

| Some of these sounds are actually dogs (growl, bark, drinking sounds). I hope that does not bother you.
If someone wants, give me a list of animals in Wolf Online, and I will look for sounds.

| We have actually gotten all the sounds we need for animals from WOLF itself. The only others we may or may not need are more adult and pup sounds, just to make a player more individual. | |

| Then you just... want to those old sounds? will you use pixelated images when we could greatly improve the sprites quality and give wolf online a more clean and polished image?
I understand you want to respect what wolf is, it is an excellent game and has that "magic" that keeps you playing it. But we can improve it, maybe changing the sounds by other real animals sounds resembling original wolf sounds.
I am not asking to move away from wolf similarity. I just say we should avoid ending up with a Wolf clone. We can take wolf sprites and improve its quality. We can replace the sounds with real animals sounds.
If we want to revive the game, we have to get it right or people will forget it soon. Maybe even a forgotten project because the lack of will from the people working on it. I've seen it happen many times with other old games. Too much enthusiasm at first... and then when the novelty dies, development also dies little by little. First some people disappear from the project forum and th others have to find new designers/ mappers/ testers /etc. Then, even those who organized the idea and shaped it lose interest or can not continue because there is something they are not able to do without help. Then, the most faithful to the game also end up leaving, there is no more updates and even they dont want to stay there to mourn about their beloved game.
I do not want that to happen here. Please, could we replace the sounds? Even if only to give a new point of interest to the game. New things means more expectations about the game. It will make it more exciting, a complete renovation to original wolf. Still 2d, same design, same theme and same way of playing it... but not worth all this to end with a online clone of wolf. We need to give a new image to the game. Maybe... take the sprites to photoshop and apply filters to them until theses huge pixels disappear. Add better quality new sounds, new preys... I do not know.
What we need to preserve is the essence of the game, not their old sounds and their big and ugly pixels. I love wolf. I'm just trying this to not be stalled by lack of interest.

| Some of the sounds are old, and some are new. Several of WOLF's old sound effects are very good quality, and sound very realistic. If we changed too much about WOLF Online, then it would no longer deserve the title WOLF Online, as our team is no way connected with the Sanctuary Woods team. Also, if you get too realistic with some things, the quality of something seems worse as they do not match up. And we are not making a WOLF clone, WOLF was not multiplayer, WOLF did not have the option to carry pups, WOLF did not have all the prey options we do, WOLF did not have male and female prey, WOLF did not have predators that threatened your wolf. If we get new sprites (which good wolf sprites with tons of actions are hard to find) we lose tons of actions. The better looking the sprites are, the harder it is to create different actions. With several if the sprites sets we have looked into using, we lose actions such as play bow, scentmark, dig, layhowl, sithowl, limp, scenting, ect. Again, if we dont use the wolves from wolf, then we arent really making WOLF Online, just Wolf Online. Also, not many people like for their hard made sprites to be taken without permission. WOLF;s original team has given us permission for the use of their game.
Also, we wont lose too much if this game isnt popular. It hasnt cost us a dime at this point. Kouga and I will stay with this project until it's published no matter how long it takes. It's was the two of us for a while before this site was started as well. The new face you want to give to WOLF Online will be that it is multiplayer. That should draw a good crowd.
